With the arrival of innovative technology in the education sector, education is not confined to classrooms anymore. New Innovative Technologies, in addition to high internet penetration, has made EdTech one of the fastest growing industries in India.

In this article, we will discuss some of the most dominating trends in EdTech in India for this year. Let’s take a look:

Learn about the Indian Startups That Will Boom In 2020.

Top EdTech Trends in India for 2020

1. Game-based learning

One significant way technology has revolutionized the education industry worldwide is by introducing a game-based approach to learning. Traditionally, learning was all about cramming for the exam, but EdTech platforms like Byju had changed it to a large extent.

Game-based learning techniques not only engage students in a better way and for a longer duration, but it can also simplify the complex subjects with the help of fun-filled games. This year, learning through games is likely to dominate the EdTech platforms.

2. Blockchain

Blockchain is the underlying framework for cryptocurrencies. It offers highly secure data exchange functionality and opportunities to collaborate for individuals and organizations. The security mechanisms used in Blockchain are extremely difficult to crack, and it has the potential to disrupt the EdTech sector, especially the higher education.

Multiple universities and companies exchange student data for various purposes like student transfer, semester exchange, course exchange, student’s academic data sharing between companies for employment, etc. In these scenarios, Blockchain technology can be immensely useful for both students and institutions. Storage and accessibility of academic data can become more efficient and secure with Blockchain technology.

3. Online Assessment

While online exams have already simplified and automated the examination process in many educational institutes, answer sheets are still evaluated manually everywhere. Online Exams are helping institutes to automate and improve the examination and overall assessment process for students. Online assessments can help in speeding up the time taken for the evaluation process. Driven by Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, online assessment can help institutes get a more holistic view of students’ performance.

4. Voice Search

Around 50% of internet searches are voice-based, and it is on the verge of creating a revolution in the EdTech industry. With some innovations, voice Search can become one of the most important tools in EdTech platforms. Voice and touch are some of the features that let users interact more efficiently with their devices. These features can make the virtual learning experience as interactive and as real as possible.

5. Virtual reality

Virtual Reality technology has enormous scope in the education sector. Instead of passively experiencing a classroom, VR technology puts you right in front of things. You can view and analyze them from all three dimensions. This can be extremely useful for studying complex diagrams and difficult concepts. Over the years, Virtual Reality has become quite cost-effective. There are already numerous3D games available on the market, and it is only a matter of time when developers will start creating 3D games focused on education.
